I am not sure if I will drive all the way from North Carolina just for that, but we were around the area so it was worth stopping. Right off the town of Columbia near HWY 30 we drove around pulling over the side to enjoy the beautiful Susquehanna river. We also visited the Dutch Wonderland amusement park. My 8 year old really like the chnace to see and pet baby goats, cows and feeding a big old Tom Turkey. Most amish people we can in contact, including serveral driving buggies, will politely raise their hand to greet us ( we were told by some folks we had dinner that " the locals wern't friendly. For the most part we just enjoyed the drive by the beautiful, well-kept lawns and homes. Visited 4 farms and stop at many of the little stand by the side of the road.We tasted everything from cheese to raw milk( that was different) and very nice presserves. Not much to do, other than visiting different farms, learning about a much more slow paced/ hard working comunity.
